A look at the progress made toward my Mickey Golfing Abstract. I am really enjoying this painting and the style that is emerging from it. I started by painting a darker background, blackening out the dark parts of Mickey and then going over it with gesso so as to lighten the areas I wanted a little lighter, as well as highlight the black parts. As I played with the black and gesso I saw this style emerging, and found myself falling into this pattern. When I finally surfaced rather then having just a background setup for my final touches I had an almost finished painting. I love what is coming of my Mickey. Maybe in the end this will become a painting worthy of Disney’s walls. 😉
